Hornets' Nest

Greetings Friends,

The hornets nest has been buzzing for two years now. July 1 is our anniversary date. That appears to be about the date the original directors received their BBO tools and started the weekly hornets nest. The BBO staff help from Uday, Fred, Rain, Gweny, and Sherri was so appreciated in getting us started when the zone was expected to leave.

Many long time friends have been made. It makes it all worthwhile to see the accomplishments and friendships. The players have a choice but it is our wonderful directors that help players make the choice. Working together makes us an on-line family like no other.

Hornets Nest is the best club on BBO! Of course Bridge Addicts think they are the best. And why not? Bridge Addicts has many of the same hosts and players. We work closely together. Same with Rock. The day games times were selected to not overlap Rock. We try to cooperate with the other established clubs and that makes us partners.

Our club has over 4000 permanent members and has had over 10,000 different players in one month (we keep count). That seems a lot but when we consider the world, it is a small select group. We have common goals in bridge. Exercise our brains, have fun, and friendly chat. Our goals make for long time friends if we can just put aside our biases. Nothing destroys a friendship like greed and prejudice. We can all pray for a peaceful world but in meanwhile we can get along.

Our web site is an input of many players around the world. Our directors and players wrote helpful pages in foreign languages. It is always amazing how some can speak so many languages. Our web site is made to be user friendly. Dorothy (Toto) still keeps her page full of interesting tidbits.

Our photo album gets the most hits since some like to put a face on partner and make is more personal. With a simple click, a player can locate a specific picture in the photo album or gallery. Players need only to send a picture as an e-mail attachment to have a picture posted. We make it so easy on the players. No membership or web site is involved for players to add a photo. We maintain control to have an orderly photo album.

The hornet fun points is a unique hornet feature. Many like to see their ranks grow similar to ACBL ranks. We have a few hornet masters. The fun points are derived by manually inputting results into a fun point program. Points are stratified based on hornet rating and not the self rating on the profile.We have several auditors who let us know if one is missed or put in wrong tournament. And, their help is appreciated.

A special thanks to all the wonderful players who have made our club the success it is. We appreciate everyone?s keeping in the fun and friendly spirit of our game. It is the players who make our directors duties such a pleasant time. Working together we will build a better world. It takes more muscles to frown then to smile. We can together take great pride in what has been accomplished. Make another friend today.
